From Chua Soi Lek to Elizabeth Wong

I still remembered a post i wrote similar to this event. It's involved a high ranking cabinet minister Chua Soi Lek scandal over his sex video that circulating in the public.

Now, new scandals over the same thing arise to the public. Elizabeth Wong, Bukit Lanjan assemblywoman decided to quit over her nude photo that circulating in the public. Personally, i think she should allow resigning. A person that works in such statue in public services should take responsibility over his or her action no matter in his previous or recent life.

It so wrong to let such tainted personality to be a leader and he or she should be barred from the public to avoid it to be a role model or example for our young kids. If not, they will think that it is okay to take nude photo of her today because the public acceptance over this action is good. The morality in the society will plumed to the level where it can slowly destroy a civilization and the existence of the human species.

Morality doesn't rule in one side. PR always condemns the morality of BN representative but of themselves too. We talk about corrupt, dishonest and greedy politician, but at the same time accept those nude photo, act and other incident by other politician as small and tolerable matters. We talk against the moral value of former health minister Chua Soi Lek of his secret affairs with another woman but justified Elizabeth nude photos.

As an assembly person that services him or her to public services it is fair that it will be judged by the public and a moral example and good ethic needed to make sure the people lead by the right person. A person was given power by the people because they think he or she is a good person and without any bad habits or other things. I don't think a person will public said that he or she did some weeds or take some nude photos or like to go to pub in his personal resume in campaigning during the election. If this happen, i believe this is the end of his or her political career.

I believe Elizabeth Wong did a right thing and resign as a assemblywoman. This is a good example for other representative no matter in the parliament or state assembly so that they will not do as they like when they working for the people. The people deserved the rights to have a good and clean leader to represent them in the nation or state assembly. To break the rules, means to accept those other immoral values such as corruption, greed and others values in a person who leading our country.

President Elect Barack Obama Historical Speech

I envy you American. Click here for the speech transcript.

Some interesting quote:

#1
If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible, who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time, who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer.

#2
And to all those watching tonight from beyond our shores, from parliaments and palaces, to those who are huddled around radios in the forgotten corners of the world, our stories are singular, but our destiny is shared, and a new dawn of American leadership is at hand.

To those -- to those who would tear the world down: We will defeat you. To those who seek peace and security: We support you. And to all those who have wondered if America's beacon still burns as bright: Tonight we proved once more that the true strength of our nation comes not from the might of our arms or the scale of our wealth, but from the enduring power of our ideals: democracy, liberty, opportunity and unyielding hope.

#3
Yes, we can!

Malaysian, can we?

Youtube from Queen Rania of Jordan

YouTube is a video sharing website where users can upload, view and share video clips. Everyone can register a YouTube account and upload their video for sharing to other people and get an instant feedback. This interactive feedback among the video creator and reader is a good platform for many political and social activities.

I wrote an article of few youtuber previously and introduced some creative youtuber to keep watch. They utilized the full potential of this website to present their own thoughts and talent and get feedback from the viewers.

The internet culture revolution really attracted few well known people to use the internet as their official platform for their own works. In Malaysia, political godfather such as Lim Kit Siang, Mahathir Mohamad and Anwar Ibrahim personally using the internet platform to express their statement rather the old news paper media that believed easily to be manipulated by some groups.

Queen Rania of Jordan is the new buzz in the Youtube world. Her YouTube got a huge attention from people around the world because she is the wife of King Abdullah II of Jordan and among the high profile person. She can publicized in many ways but choose YouTube as her main platform to reach out to the people.

Her YouTube site caught a huge attention from international media such as BCC over the stereotype issue than the Arab people experience since the September 11 attacks. One can go to her YouTube site to participate and leave a video respond and comment about this issue.

Bias stereotype among the Arabs Muslim are spreading fast in the western community. South East Asia shared its own problem too when the radical Islamic group such as Abu Sayyaf and Jemaah Islamiyah creates unrest to the region. This also created lots of bias stereotype to the Islam community in non Islamic nation such as Philippine and Thailand.

With most of the political turmoil caused by religion differences, people around the world become very confused with the events happening around them. Political motivated bias in some news report add up more dissatisfaction encouraged the fear to a religion once not so controversial and has created a group of people such as Queen Rania of Jordan to clear out the misconception of the west and some wrong ideology belief that thought by religious extremist.

The creation of internet platform such as blog and YouTube gave new alternative and unbiased chances for individual people such as you and me to express their opinion about one issue and problem. Nevertheless, the free flow media platform can also used to spread a false concept of issues unless there are more people that care to straighten out and explain the truth. Today we lived in a world where everyone has the chances to express their opinion, interest and socialize in the world that without the political and religion boarder.

UMNO's blogger counter attack front liner

Recently, i saw the growing of blog by some UMNO strong members. I don't know how many strong UMNO members out there starting to blog but there are few that i found. The most controversial blog is Khairy Jamaluddin with his constituency website. Thou, the problem is his blog was not updated since after the election. There are some annoying video clip playing automatically in order to project his ambitious political propaganda and images. Then he changed to a more down tune to moderate and suburban taste also with an annoying music on it. I had to admit that the site design was good and served the purpose as a propaganda machine and believe his money well spent on it. The problem was the content was outdated and since after the election there were no new post. The content on his blog was mainly to counter attack Anwar Ibrahim claims on some policies was done when he in power with his father in law in power. It looks like Anwar Ibrahim consistency posting updates in his blog really do make different and most of the reader seem to get personal updates on his recent trip to Indonesia. Khairy 0, Anwar 1.

The second UMNO strong member blog is from Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo. Today, UMNO really start to acknowledge the important of blogging. I still remember one MP telling the people that the all bloggers was a liar or woman. It is such a lame to say on that moment and now they got spitted by their own words. Dr Khir Toyo's blog just went up few moments ago created a blog has started to get work by tackling the pig farm issue in Selangor. His main rival is Teresa Kok who posted her own version of explanation and argument on the issue. Dr Khir Toyo even posted up his own explanation of the pig farm issue even while on during his haj. I don't think his mind at peace when all the fun and fight happening in here. At the moment I can say Dr Khir Toyo 1, Teresa Kok 1. Let the best argument with based with proof win the argument.

The next UMNO strong member blog is from Malaca Chief Minister Mohd Ali Rustam. The main issue that posted in his blog is about Pakatan Rakyat. He argues about the importance and reality check on this pakatan that he convinces it is not going to work. His argument was that there were lots of differences among the three main party and without understanding and agreement, those pakatan will not going to work and this will be a disaster to the people. I guess his fair opponent on this issue is Lim Kit Siang. Lim Kit Siang has propagating the Pakatan Rakyat idea to the people as an alternative to Barisan Nasional after their wins of several states. His blog consisted lots of issues and i don't know most of the post was written by him or not. Some post was written or posted with approval in his blog to widen more issues to the readers. Pakatan Rakyat idea still strong with Lim Kit Siang but with lots of issues to covers and post in the blog, it went down and become cold. It look like Mohd Ali Rustam choose to take on the Pakatan Rakyat issue and Lim Kit Siang is the main contender to a debate and argument didn’t give any good fight to him. At the moment, I have to give Mohd Ali Rustam 1, and Lim Kit Siang 0. Lim Kit Siang blog covers too much political issues that he is so busy to post a counter argument in his blog fast.

These are few blog I found interesting to put up. I have not yet discover any new UMNO strong member blog or any BN component party blog to stand on the front line on taking against the opposition blog in internet space. I believe, internet age gave a new fair platform for political war. The old media such as television and newspaper print that believe to be bias and tend more to ruling government was slowly eliminated. The importance of this old media machine was still significant because there are small percentages of population such as the elder don’t have an access to internet. At the moment, I believe the opposition party still got the strong hold on this internet space because of their earlier utilization of this media. With the new waves of Barisan Nasional blogger in the front line, this war of overflow information and argument will be the pinnacle of Malaysia political platform in future. The people will not be pushed as a flock of lamb or cows anymore because the government lost their strong grip of withholding information and news. I look beyond to a mass overflow of information in these few years and we have to starts to do a own censorship of whatever we read in the internet.

Gordon Ramsay: Chef from Hell

The first time i knew about Gordon Ramsay was when i watch a food TV series The F Word in Asia Food Channel. A tall guy and big body with a bad mouth manner that annoys anyone he speak to but still managed to charm some people and made some friends. He is one of three chef that restaurant awarded three Michelin star in UK.

At the moment, I can consider him as the top chef seen in television. I think he is far better compared to Jamie Oliver who is a celebrities chef with a different way of cooking and a little bit unhygienic when he taste the ingredient with his hand while preparing the food. It's not saying he is dirty but I feel like he adding some of his saliva on the food to make it more delicious.

Gordon started his cooking career from low and work so hard to achieve his dreams and learn from great chef Marco Pierre White who consider to be the godfather of modern cooking and the first 3 stars Michelin stars in UK. I had seen almost all TV show about Gordon Ramsay that includes Kitchen Nightmares UK and US version, F Word, Boiling Point and Beyond Boiling Point. Gordon started his TV career when he walks out from his previous restaurant Aubergine. He landed a deal with a TV company to document his business life in his own flag restaurant Royal Hospital Road in which won him a 3 Michelin star in 2001. I watched Gordon Ramsay in Boiling Point in disbelieve because he look like a mad man and with his authoritarian and bully style regiment to his staff. Most of the public at that time criticized his way of doing business that will leave a negative impact to his employee.

Beyond Boiling Point sees a better side of Gordon Ramsay in anger management. He still the fierce chef but with less cursing and foul mouth to all his staff. Never the less, he still feared as a lion in a cage waiting to swallow his next victim. I personally don't agree with the way he doing his business but have to admit his way really did excel him to the top. One need to know there are two way to achieve success. One is a hard way and second is the easy way. Gordon chooses the hard way to achieve his dream. With his strict discipline regiment of leadership and doing business, he made himself to be well known to the public. The public respond with giving him recognition of excellence and perfection in cooking and management. I doubt many can and find it is hard follow his path to success but his way certainly guarantees a good and everlasting reputation in every field you work in.

Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares is an interesting show to watch. I will never see any restaurant as I think before. It is true most of the restaurants out there are not well managed in term of cleanness and hygienic. Food often was not fresh as it claims. Gordon in Kitchen Nightmares exposed the darkest secret of some restaurant in UK and US where most of them is dirty and unhygienic filled with rotten foods. I find it surprise to know this restaurant still open for business after all the discovery.

I don't dare to think if these dirty restaurants can exist even in a place where the law and regulation is strict, what will be for places where the implementation is so weak and corrupt like in Malaysia. The good things I can see in most of the restaurants in Malaysia are the kitchen is at the outside. One can glance at the kitchen weather it is clean or dirty. The bad thing is most of us not mind looking at some crocoaches and rats wandering at the floor. Many of us don't think this will be a hazard to us but never have we known that it is an indication of a kitchen that not well managed and on a bad day will cause one of the customers ended up in hospital for food poisoning.

Today, Gordon Ramsay is a well know chef in his line of work. He still cooks with passion but with better anger management. He still have his foul mouth speech with more less anger management but i believe he learned well with all these years that some people better not to be messed up. The best thing I learn after watched all this TV show are passion, perfection and discipline are important to be a success person and restaurant kitchen can be dirtier than your house kitchen if the management is not good.

Anthony Chong: The real meaning of "mati katak".

I read at The Star Online about the decision of the court to release Sabah's former minister Conrad Mojuntin and his nephew of a criminal intimidation charge connected to the fatal shooting of a 20-year-old youth in Penampang near here about three years ago. Lionel's blog has a very detailed news and information about this incident.

The court has declared the shooting was a self defense act but i found it so uneasy because the person who pulled the trigger and involved was freed. I believe this is not the end to this unfortunate incident where as i quote

Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail said he was unlikely to press for other charges against Conrad after considering issues of self-defense and tainted evidence during the inquest into Anthony’s death.

It was so easy for them to off the hook. At least, the AG can charge them for public fighting charges as an example to others who planning to make a fight. This was not even passed the mind of the AG because I believe he is so busy or afraid to upset certain people. Fighting in public is a crime in every country although it is not serious unless death occurs. It is unfortunate for Anthony Chong's family to saw their loved one died like this and the people to cause their pain was freed without even a little punishment.

I'm not by all mean saying Conrad Mojuntin and his nephew is guilty because the court has declared both of them are a free man. I wonder if Conrad Mojuntin's gun licenses will be taken back because of this incident. I do understand the gun ownership is legal in sabah due to the insecure of some businessman and VIPs, but does the licenses of the legal firearm is another way saying is the licenses to kill? What are the rules of using the legal firearm on other people? Are there any rules or training to those who own firearm and should a person allowed to own a fire gun in city center where the police station is less than 5-10 km range?

I hope this incident is a wakeup call on to review of fire arm regulation and standards to people who live in town area. I don't think the execution use of his firearm by Conrad Mojuntin is not wise and reasonable. He didn't exhausted his other options of self defend such as retreat and call the police even thou he has the chances but is believed and speculated to come back to escalate and confront the conflicts with his legal weapon. Is alcohol is the main cause of the conflict or just two guys showing off their overfilled testosterones?

Luckily, this is an isolated incident. I hope people that own a fire arm licenses really apply their special rights as the last resort. In Anthony case, he is a fine example of a Malay proverbs "mati katak" because he fought a gun with a sword.

Chicken and duck talk in Parliment

I found this parliament clip in Youtube in which a simple question and answer session turn out to be a very nasty argument between parliamentary representatives Sothinathan, Lim Kit Siang and Fong Po Kuan. The opposition is very famous with their verbal skills in public in election campaign but easily gets misunderstood over some simple phrase uttered by their opponent.

This session i believe suppose to be a simple question and answer session where MP Lim Kit Siang try to debate an issue where the municipal raise the house tax and gave warning this act will upset the people and might drive the Barisan National to lost the next general election in which by now it true. Then i remembered a clip by two Indian comedians from comedycourt in which resemblance the parliament session as i mentioned.

The obvious thing i find is very similar in these two clips is the language. I have a problem to understand what they are saying in the first view until I replay it all over again. The parliamentary session between Sothinathan and Lim Kit Siang suppose to be a gentlemen debate but turn out to be a bit nasty when Lim Kit Siang cry out of the politic issue. The rest of the argument is purely a misunderstanding of what each other said.

I very appreciate to know the MP form opposition is so verbally active to voice out the public problem, but I find it so hard to swallow the language skills they have when spoke it in Malay. The debate that turns out to be a nasty argument again turns out to be a comical entertainment for all the MP. I hope that the Parliament will not be like the Taiwan nasty session especially now the opposition gains a great deal of MP seats in which I believe will create more heated session between the ruling government and the opposition MP.

I hope that all the Chinese and Indian MP especially in the opposition side resolved to hire a Malay language specialist or get tuition to improve their language and communication skills. I don't want the opposition and the government MP ended up misunderstands each other and ended up talking chicken and duck.

Malaysia 2008 Election: A brave new world for people's power.

Briefly, i would like to congratulate this three component Barisan Rakyat for an excellent win taking over some states in Malaysia from Barisan Nasional. Now, they're not an opposition for those states that they won. They have to start walking the talk as they promised to the people who voted them. I will not write about the result of the election as it can be found by google search or local news web.

The most interesting event of this election is the fall down of Samy Vellu. He is the hardest bull to be taken down and survive many attempts to topple him and at last an unknown candidate Dr Michael Jeyakumar from Parti Keadilan Rakyat. This old bull sure is a hell hard bull to be topple even by his own people in MIC and this event really sure a listed at the top of most exciting event on Malaysia 2008 Election.

We saw few key ministers who lost their parliamentary seat such as Sharizat at Lembah Pantai and Koh Tsu Koon who is the sadly lost his new contest in parliamentary seats. I always doubted in the beginning of the decision by the PM Abdullah Badawi to transfer him from holding a state portfolio to federal portfolio. With the retirement of Lim Keng Yek, former president of Gerakan Party, I do understand why he has to move to there. The problem is with the huge support to DAP, I think it is a political disaster for BN with Gerakan being pulled into its most major offset in their existence history.

UMNO dreamed for long time to take the Chief Minister post from Gerakan. It was mentioned many times during the UMNO General Assembly. The arguments are Chief Minister Post should be given to the most seats in component party and it is UMNO. As the races demographic in Penang i believe was surgically change in the worst way, the attempt to put Malay as majority race in Penang and win the Chief Minister Post is a one way ticket to defeat. PKR is fully responsible to pulled all the Malay votes from UMNO. The result is, DAP, PKR and PAS was able to get a good majority in Penang and to create a government for next 5 years.

The huge defeat of Barisan Nasional in Parliamentary and State election had shown us that most of the people especially the Indian, Chinese and Malay wants changes. The genius campaign propaganda plagiarized from Obama's presidential candidacy does really work. I'm sure that Obama will find it pleasant to know that his change campaign if it is not work in America, work in Malaysia at least. The changes attitude from the people of Malaysia does really get it from the America election. The frequent update from international news channel such as CNN, BBC and Al Jazera on America election does really influence and change the mind set of people around the world. The first we can see is in Malaysia.

In next five weeks, i expected to see some problem with the Barisan Nasional internal affairs and Barisan Rakyat coalition component. UNMO is the one to get the hardest hit with Abdullah Badawi struggling to retain his Presidency in UMNO and to be Prime Minister Malaysia. There are some parties in UMNO showing sign of disappointment of his leadership and the most outspoken is the former president Dr Mahathir. The Mahathir factor will be a big thing in UMNO since now Abdullah Badawi in a very weak situation of his power. I have some insight of why might be happening but choose to wait and see so that I would not ended up in some jail for spreading rumors.

Last, i would like to see the new state government can work as one with one vision. This will be a hardest thing to do because of the social contract that was implemented since the independent. Everyone want to have a piece of the big cake and the never ending lobbyist and corruption on the Barisan Nasional will now focusing to buy out some of the DAP and PKR representative as well. The challenge is now begin. As I type this word in my post, I sense the new Member of Parliament will received an offering call to be their guardian angel in any kind of clean and dirty work.

Internet and its influences to Malaysia's politics stage

I wrote a post two years ago in 2005 on two malaysian opposition politician utilizing the mass internet media to reach out to the blogger community. The two prominent politicians are YB Lim and YB Teresa. Jeff Ooi at that time, the most controversial blogger in the internet are making his mark as an independent journalist who got the balls to write against the government openly. Many thought that he won't last long and would be thrown in to ISA to be humiliated and brain wash. Now, he is still alive and kicking with the new prospect as a DAP representative to contest in Jelutong parliament seat.

My previous post is mainly about the DAP YB's new blog and this significant news knowing that they do realized the importance of blogging as a future road in media information. I would like to quote the last paragraph of my previous post.

Can blog writers make changes on the real political area and make bloglitical as a word politically and get its wide acceptance from general community in Malaysia? Jeff Ooi seems to be a major favorite for me, and might be we can see some others as well. So what do you think?

I did not get any respond on my comment box. Now, two years after the post, Jeff Ooi standing contesting for a Parliament seat. It doesn't make me surprise when he announced of his candidacy after few speculation if he decided to contest or not and which party he will be representing. This election will prove weather a blogger can make any different in a real world political platform rather than barking behind the internet curtain.

I also did a similar post about blogger in political platform and spit out two names of possible first blogger MP. Even thou this post not really fully about politic issue and more on a silly incident that happen, i did speculate about the chances of blogger in political scene. Blog really change a lots compared to few years ago. The ignorance and alter ego among conservative politicians towards blogger vanished after they realized that internet with blog really can make a difference.

The presidential candidates for 2008 America general election has utilized the internet to reach out to a constant and rapid growth of internet community. I read a news article on edison chen's scandalous photo in which highlighted a new word. "Netizen" is defined in wikipedia as i quote,

A Netizen (a portmanteau of Internet and citizen) or cybercitizen is a person actively involved in online communities

Youtube was utilized fully by the presidential candidate as an important media asset to their campaign. CNN and Youtube successfully collaborate to organized a Democrat and Republican debate and give the chances for anyone of us all around the world no matter one is citizen or not an opportunity to express a question to the candidates. This is a great big step right after Neil Armstrong’s first step on the moon to the advancement of our civilization. The future is looking better and brighter.

Internet really changes the mind of many and it still does. The significant to Malaysia’s political stage is the first blogger MP if he wins the contest. This will definitely give us an assurance of free speech through internet for another 5 years.

Wedding Photo: Elvin and Tian Yen

I went to sandakan for a wedding assignment on 29 December 2007. This assignment was different to others wedding assignment because i used 2 digital camera that allowed me to use two different lens setting at one time. I use the 17-70mm lens as a primary which offer wide and zoom and 50mm f1.8 as a secondary lens for better lighting and depth of field effect. I had problem in getting used to this setting at the beginning but i managed moment later

The weather is a bit cloudy and not really ideal to take any good photo. The second problem that i had was not managed to look at the church in advance to get experiment with the church's lighting condition.

As usual, i started the photo shot at the bride's home. It is quite a home with warm reception from the father and mother of the bride. I use the 50mm f1.8 for a specific subject i want to take and a little bit portraits shot.

50mm f1.8 allowed me to take a portrait without artificial flash. Natural lighting from windows is a good for portrait photo for any subject.

The photo above was taken during a cloudy day. Even thou the light was bright enough for a snap shot, the color not really projected very well and accurate that caused by the imbalance of the white balance. Cloudy day can turn the day a bit blue dull.

The bride’s father looking at her daughter arranging the flower bouquet with the help of her brides mate. It is a classical example of wedding photojournalist technique.

A silhouette effect with outer glow of the bride's veil give a very interesting effect and give a curiosity and wonder impression to the bride when the most important day of her life is within the last few steps.

The twin is so energetic during the walk to aisle. The movement blur shot was accidental but it turn out to be a very nice photo.

The altar view of St Michael Church in which the light shine bright in two directions giving a balance of amount of bright and shadow exposure.

The bride was reading her vows on paper hold by Pastor Clarence.

While waiting for the signing ceremony to start, i managed to snap a photo in which the ring on the hand and the wedding record book that is a witness of many previous weddings.

The grooms kiss the bride reenactment because ceremonial kiss was too fast to be captured and i actually missed it. I always ask for second kiss reenactment because the couple was not anymore feeling nervous.

Flower tossing is a must for every western style wedding. This is among the must have event photo in a wedding.

Again, another movement blur photo that i turn out to be nice. The composition of the stair gives a swivel point to the photo.

Personal portrait shot on the couple's new room.

A syn flash setting that was turn out to be nice. The dinner hall is so big i had to compensate the ambient light of the background with the front subject to avoid a dark background.

Yam seng is a Chinese wedding cheer from the guest to the newly wedded couple for good and happy wishes.

The chains line of people project a very interesting interaction between friends all the way to the bride inside the car.

I took about 1500 photos on the wedding and processed about 200 pieces of photo to put in the customized photo album that i finished a moment ago. Most of the time spends on reviewing the photo and thinking the design and photo flow for the wedding book. Designing a wedding book not easy for me and i need about one month to create an original and different book for each wedded couple. The job become even harder on the day that two couple want a wedding book for their photo in which i use about 2 month to finished it because i don't want both book look the same.

To see more photo of this wedding, please click here for the bigger slide.

Portrait: Pat @ All About Kuai

I been quiet busy with two projects on progress. One of the job was halted due to the client didn't respond and it might took longer to finished the end product. At first i didn't plan to take any photo during working on a job. My friend Zi was asking to have a photo session and i thought this time it would be better to pay my attention on her camera. Kuai or Pat join last minutes and i took this opportunity to snap some few portrait photo on her.

Never have I expected that she quite relax with camera pointing on here. Some earlier photo shot taken with my friend was filled with doubts and lack of confident. I had a session with Debbie but i was barred to put most of her good photo. At the end i just put most of Flory photos. Anyhow, i got a few good experiences dealing with girls when doing a photo shot even thou i don't think i learned enough to deal it professionally.

We went to Tanjung Aru beach to snap few photos. The weather was not quite right and the cloud all over the sky. Sun not expected to shines and a bits of rains starting to drops luckily well after we finished.

I'm didn't do portrait shot for about more than a month. Basically, the more people snapped the more and vibrant the look will be. With few month gaps for a portrait or any photo job, i find it difficult to get used to every photo session. I saw Pat's confident on the beginning of the session but i was not quite ready for it because this is not really a planned test shot.

There are few warm up shot and after getting used to it, I tried for more vibrant and emotional shot.

Jumping snap shot was inspired from smashpop trend even thou he is not the one who started it. Zi and I spend few jumps until we got a good post. I choose to take a close snap shot but it seems that the shutter speed quite slow and the result was blur movement on her face. The later jump shot look more confident and interesting and even look better after photo shop touch up.

Side or profile snap is quite familiar among portraits photo. Again, I had problem on choosing which lens to use. For a portrait shot, lens with bigger aperture fits nicely because of the depth of field effect. I spent some shot with every lens i had.

Again a typical free pose shot. Playing with water didn't turn out great compared to the second photo that again a usual pose.

These last two photos was a blow. I never expected that i got this from her. It seems that she has talent posing for camera and if she wants to be in commercial it wouldn't be a problem.

Kota Kinabalu HobbyCon Event Snap Photos

I attend the HobbyCon activities on today (8 December 2007) one day earlier because the couple who has an appointment photo shot with me ditched me at the last minutes. It look like this is a good day for me to have a look over what happen and snap some photos at there.

I snapped lots of photo at the events but only got few good photos to share. It caused by not much interesting subject for me to shot because i actually came late for me. Then i met jullian and flanegan for first time at the spot. It seems that they stopped shooting for the day because of the camera batteries ran out for them. Jullian manages to reserve some of his camera batteries and took some nice shot while flanegan's batteries camera seems to ditch him out and force him an earlier retirement on that day.

The small cute creature was created by ah Kwan as i, my friend used to call him. A long hair ponytail artist has been long time in art and design as we known. I'm not sure what kind of art is he doing but i pretty sure that he quite creative with his art and concept expression as one can see on the photo above and below.

I myself trying to get my coordinate fixed on what really happen on that day. I was able to meet maslight for first time too. I actually confused with Joybee and Edgar. I thought at the moment that Edgar is Joybee and Joybee is Edgar. What a silly mistake. Sorry for that dude. It is nice to chat with maslight. First, I wasn't sure what Hobbycon is all about. Maslight told me that it is a forum where for hobbies enthusiastic to share, chat, discuss and meet. It seems that lots of talented comic artist setting up desks and showing up their artistic skills in comics. I myself an artist during school days today changed to computer and electronic medium such as photo and video camera to express my artistic hunger.

He is one of the characters that i think quite interesting enough for me to publish it in my blog. I don't know what is he trying to portrait but i guess he trying to impersonate some tv series CSI character minus out the doll. Whether it is true or not, i didn’t know.

I met Collin first time at Peter Tan and Wuan's Blogger Gathering. He told me that he actually specialized in graphic and web design and comic not really his full time. I found out that he was my junior while in La Salle. It is interesting enough to know that most of La Sallian ended up with arts. Nizam or NJay, his partner the main artist and illustrator in their comic publication. He partner up with Collin and to precede their dream on comic based art.

Edgar, blogging live the Hobbycon event. He really did a great job of keeping everyone up to date of whatever happens if not by second or minutes, maybe hours. A range of video clip uploaded to YouTube and attached on his blog. For live blogging, he sure really put a good job over it. I myself didn't use the internet facilities because i want to process my photo first before let other to see. I think that is my habits.

Last, i snapped a photo of this mysterious man who don't want his photo to be published and that what i did. An handsome lad that i knew online last time in chatting. I was part of a chatting channel forum that not quite held up long.

I went to Sutera Open Air Christmas Carols By Candlelight in Sutera harbor after that. That i leaves it till my next post. Meanwhile, for more information update about HobbyCon, there is a blog your can check it out.

Photo: Sabah F2000 World Cup Powerboat Race Day 1

This is not a coverage post of the event, it just only a random snap shot from me of the event. I went to the Powerboat Race and took some photo of the boats and people. I saw many people with their digital point and shoot and professional waited patiently at the beach and banks for a nice view of the race.

Lots of police and soldier are guarding the event. Maybe they afraid some people will use this event to take advantages for the personal purpose, but i think it hardly will happen.

Big corporate company such as DIGI has really pushing its publicity on this event. They're giving out so many goodies to the locals and illegal. Even there are some people wearing some strange costume to attract the people.

Most of the people waited for hours before and went home and missed out the qualification time test. I pointed out my 70-300mm lens and shot only this boat. I was told that we can pay an amount of money to ride in one of this race boat.

Red boat take passengers who want to experience the speed boat.

A bird, rescue boat and speed boat in a frame. I realized that the bird floating in a circle and back in a pattern. Then, the moment comes when three of them crossing path and i point my lens and take the shot.

People standing at the edge point hoping to get a closer and better view. I think this part if a VIP section. The TV station is standing by too to get the best coverage on that day.

Jollence and John

I met Jollece, John and Cede setting up their big lens to shoot the speed boat. I was given a chance to snap some multi frame shot of the fast moving boat and it feel so good. I don't think i need the big 600mm lens more than Jollece needed it because i just want to limit my scope to wedding and close up subject shot. What i need badly is a full set portable lighting system to take portraits and it is where the money comes.

I took some children shot at the sea side.

and some at the carnival.

I like this photo because it is a lucky shot. With my 50mm 1.8 lens, i managed to snap this him jumping happily and at the precise moment a freeze floating image of his happiness. There will not be any photo on the day 2 as I’m not planning to go to the event. I think I won’t be able to wake up early to go there and wrestling with lots of people in a hot or maybe raining day. For more information, just Google the event and you will find it.
