Boycott Pulau Ketam as a tourist spot

Due to the incident by Pulau Ketam resident dumping 300 helpless dog to unman island, i would like to suggest a boycott this place as a tourism attraction. The reluctant by the resident to cooperate on the rescue activities telling us that they have no sense of passion and pity over animal and I don't think animal lover would like to spent their money on a place that has a bad record on animal treatment.
Almost nobody will lift a finger to help without a fee. This is understandable. The locals are already shaking their heads in disbelief that there are outsiders who want to save the animals they so casually discarded. Instead of pointing fingers and antagonizing them, we need their co-operation to help save the unfortunate creatures. In the process, we also hope to educate the islanders on better treatment of animals. It would be an impossible mission if we didn't win their hearts.

source

I understand that the write of this blog still have compassion and forgiveness towards the local resident but i think they just taking advantages over the rescue activities and trying to earn extra money out from people who trying to save the dogs.

It is no surprised that the municipal district office know to ill treated abandoned dogs at the streets by killing them with gun or stick cruelly in front the public. I don't know if public money was used to pay the local resident to dump the dogs to unman island by their local municipal office.
Is this the way MPK and its councillors wanted these dogs to die a painful and a 'horribly slow' death? Did the people of Pulau Ketam enjoyed the RM90.00 per dog paid to them by taxpayers' money? Just what did they do with the money? A new LCD TV? More Yam Sengs? China Dolls?

source

It was clear that the local residents cooperate with the municipal district office over the plan and get payment that believed come from the tax payer money. I hope that the local resident realized that this action will give them a bad reputation if they want Pulau Ketam to be a tourist spot among the oversea tourist that threat their animal better than us.

Nude photo scandals

We were dump with lots of sex scandals that involving normal people, politician and celebrities. It was not hard to find those controversy photos in the internet if you know the keyword for the search. Today, with those cheap and good quality slr digital camera in the market, photography was not really an expensive preposition and everyone can be a photographer. I saw lots of type of photo in the internet, from random shot of their life to special technical photography. Nevertheless, a nude person and photo is not a good combination no matter one is rich or poor, famous or not.

Most people don’t care those photos with nude person on it if they're no one. Thou, it will catch some attention to some people who hunt for these kind of random photos that shows private and intimate part of a person no matter they're a guy or a girl. These kinds of photos that mean nothing to the person who might or might not intentionally let their private parts being photograph will not get a major attention to the public generally.

The problem start when personalities that well known to general public was caught to be in part of these photos. Most such photo exclusively belongs to celebrities that are to believe took a nude photo of them intentionally or not intentionally distributed and circulated around the general public. With the help of electronic gadgets and wide coverage of the information technologies, it sure is spreading hundred times faster than a bush fire or a big flood.

No matter one is politician, celebrities or others, it is a story. No matter this is an morally or not, ethical or not, interested or not, public always like to know, read, see and judge these people who involved in the controversy photos. Malaysia was not left out from these controversies to their celebrities. Malaysian normally looks high on their celebrities, politician because of the strong religious, morality and families’ value. If any controversy including these public figure, spotlight will be on them even thou it not really a big deal or their fault.

Many public figure nude photo controversy from such KRU member and ELITE member, police secret squad video, politician chua soi lek secret cctv and elizebeth wong's unintentional voyageur photo too lots of airtime and headlines. These people and other public figures and personalities was under heavy scrutiny of their moral and personalities value no matter it is private life or not, past or present on doing.

Public figure or personalities cannot run away from these responsibilities to the people who they tried to get their attention with. An actor needs the viewers, singer from the fans, politician from the voters and leader from their countryman. I find it very interesting to read and hear about those celebrities and public figure involved in nude photo or video scandals tried to justified their doings with excuse like personal and private matter.

Everyone does deserve a privacy in their life without interruption and disturbance form others but public celebrities and figure should knew that their need public support to be what they are. They life belongs to the public because most of their income and support came from them. Politicians need the public to elect them to their seat and post and celebrities need to fans to buy their album to maintain their career.

Privacy and personal is not an excuse for public figure to justify their act no matter it is intentional or not. They have to be responsible and guard over themselves things that would bring problem that humiliate their own selves in future. Self awareness and discipline should be a priority to whoever plans to be public figure such as celebrities and politician. If this cannot be met, the public will scrutinize them no matter like it or not.

Persekutuan Malaysia: Satu rentetan minda.

Datukship in Malaysia

"Datuk" brings the meaning of grandparent in Malay language. Datuk give a meaning of elderly and is the most top of a family hierarchy and should be respected because of the status. In Malaysia, there are malay title "Datukship" give to particular people that achieved some success and contribution to the people. So, whoever that received this title should be an important people that has contributed lots some to the country or achieved something that was recognized by the country.

"Datukship" even thou it is still an important title, was not look high by most people. Let me bring out two cases that support this mentality among the malaysian. The first is the Nicol David and the second on is Dr Sheikh Muszaphar.

If one read the description of both personalities, which one in should be given such high recognition from the title qualification? Let me make clear who this two personality are.

Nicol Ann David (born August 26, 1983 in Penang, Malaysia) is a Malaysian professional squash player. She is currently the World No. 1 in women's squash (she is the first Asian woman to be ranked World No. 1 in the sport). She captured the World Open title in 2005 and 2006, and the British Open title in 2005, 2006 and 2008.

Source: wikipedia

Sheikh Muszaphar and three other finalists were selected at the beginning of 2006 for the Malaysian Angkasawan spaceflight program. The program arose after Russia agreed to transport one Malaysian to the ISS as part of a multi-billion purchase of 18 Russian Sukhoi Su-30MKM fighter jets by Malaysia. After completing initial training at Star City in Russia, Sheikh Muszaphar and Faiz Khaleed were selected to undergo an 18-month training program in Russia, at the end of which Sheikh Muszaphar was chosen as the prime crew member, while Faiz Khaleed served as back-up. Following the final medical tests and training examinations, on September 17, it was announced that Sheikh Muzaphar would be flying on Soyuz 11.

Source: wikipedia

Both Nicol and Sheikh Muszaphar will be conferred the title of Datukship. Nicole received the Darjah Setia Pangkuan Negeri (DSPN) award which carries the title Datuk from the state of Penang. Sheikh Muzaphar will be bestowed the Darjah Setia Negeri Sembilan (DSNS) award which carries the title "Datuk" by the Yang Di-Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Ja'afar.

Some may argue that both personalities had achieved something extraordinary from their work. It might be true but the difference was "Datukship" given to Nicol David was not expected by many. Sheik Muzaphar was long time predicted to get his goodies of present. Nicol who today a number one ranking squash player in the world for a period duration time has achieved an extraordinary feat that not everyone can do. In sports, lots of achievement was presented in the world level but little recognition was given by the people who should honor the credibility of the title itself. I don't want to speculate what really happen as many already knew it.

I feel a bit ashamed by the "Datukship" given to Sheikh Muzaphar as he didn't contribute anything to the country or doing any significant feat that different him to all the world or even to the malaysian. I feel like malaysian government sent a test monkey and sat him at the space rocket and blast him to the space to press some button that configured it easy as possible at zero gravity condition at the space. The worst thing is that he didn't spend any cent on his side. Now, we even gave him a title.

When the Russian open the space travel to the public, it was a huge buzz to people that has the resource and time to experience the journey of the life time. Malaysia having to run out of resource chooses to spent more money from tax payer money buying few jets from Russia, to get freebies that cost equal to a medical and educational incentive policy. To make it worse, they planned to have a second space trip and luckily was rejected.

Penang Government lead by Barisan Rakyat did walk the talk by giving the title to people who qualified and deserved to the title. Even thou this is not a significant event, it present us the changes that we long time awaited. At the moment, I don't really see any different make by Barisan Rakyat state government. It such a sad thing to read in news that some issue between the coalition still on discussion and unsolved.

Forum: Category of Photographer

I got this idea and want to write it for a long time. Here are the thread i wrote and posted in Borneo Shutter for reading and discussion in the forum.

The first category is the Beginner.

Beginner photographers are people who don't have much experience about taking photo and the camera they use. Simply saying, it just like looking our parents aged 50 years plus old handling your high tech camera hand phone that they don't even realized there is a camera in the hand phone. Beginner photographer started to do photography because of friend and peers influences or self inspiration after looking at some other photographer's photo in action.

Beginner level photographer most likely started with a full automatic point and shoot camera. The idea of having automatic point and shoot camera is because of the need of getting use to holding a camera and pointing it to take a photo. Taking advantage of the full automatic function of the point and shoot give chances to the person to spent more time on doing photography creatively without having fear of the technical things such exposure and low light environment.

Beginner photographer can also use a full DSLR no matter it is an entry level or professional gear. The problem with having an expensive gear in such early stage is time that was spent on getting used to the equipment that other manual setting and function that was not used wasted. Having a point and shoot at the beginning can give the person a little taste of how to point your camera to right angle and perspective rather than being confused with all the extra button and function that you might not need to use yet.

The second category is the Amateur and Hobbyist.

Amateur and hobbyist photographer evolved from the beginner photographer. In this level, most of the photographers were already has more time and experience on pointing the camera and took lots of photo as eyes seen fits randomly. Hobbyist photographer will consider on taking similar photo that only can be done with DSLR setting camera. This was the time when point and shoot camera lost out to the semi professional and professional camera. Hobbyist photographer will spend more time on taking photo and in additional on the setting and function that available not just the DSLR but on the point and shoot also.

Hobbyist photographer started to learn about the basic fundamental of photography such as the aperture, shuttle speed, ISO setting as well as the composition, depth of field and the rule of third when doing photography. The limitation of point and shoot really shown in here where some of the lens effect can’t be done and this is when the semi pro and professional gear come in handy. Beside just photographing around with what our eyes seen fits randomly, the photographer started to have its own idea on how he want the photo to look like after that.

Hobbyist photographer must has the basic rules in photography because not all the photo taken due to our skills and experience. Beginner photographer can take a very impressive and good photo randomly without any experience and skills. One such thing I can see on this situation is in landscape photography such as sunset and sunrise photo. The outer factor such as beautiful scenery and less challenging light environment give good opportunity to such few people that happen to be on the right time and right place.

Hobbyist photographers mostly prefer to buy a DSLR camera with at least one lens at disposal. DSLR camera now sold with one so called kits lens in one price range around 2 thousand to 3 thousand ringgit depends to what type of lens offered. The best kits lens that a hobbyist photographer use is the 18-55mm or 18-70mm lens. The add on feature such as auto focus lens and vibration reduction in Nikon lens and Image Stabilizer for Canon lens add extra cost to the lens. External flash can be consider a necessity due to the limited power and usage of the camera flash producing better result in night or low light photography. Additional accessories and lens can be obtained if money is not a problem.

The third category is the Part Timer

Part timer photographer is people who work on a day job and part time in taking photo. The different compared to the hobbyist is they charge money for the photography activities offered. Part time photographer still has their own financial income from their full time job, but they don’t mind doing some extra part time to earn some extra income to support their expensive activities and hobby.

Part time photographer should have a basic requirement of equipment and gear before offering their services and charging money. Part time photographers tend to choose an expensive piece of DSLR camera that cost around 4 to 5 thousand ringgit in range minus the accessories and lenses that can fetch up over 10 thousand ringgit. The advantage between a cheaper DSLR camera body and the cheaper one is the quality of the photo, button range for short cut and convenience, ISO range and the speed of the camera shot frame per second.

Reliable equipments needed to make sure the photography activities will not having a problem that will make the photographer himself looks bad. Additional lens such as wide angle 12-24mm, zoom lens 70-300mm and bigger aperture up to f1.4 with multiple range cost fortune to buy. Some photographer also invest in the indoor studio equipments such as a wireless flash system, high end computer that managed to process large size of photo and interconnected backup, portable and wireless system to take photo outdoor.

There are no different in term of skills level and experience between the hobbyist and part time photographers. Slightly different is the specialty of the photography activities they do. Part time photographer can mostly be seen in low budget events and function because they offered a lower rate than the professional full time. I estimated their price range is around half of the market range offered compared to the full time depends to their experience and work profile.

The fourth categories is the Professional Full Timer

Full time professional not mean the photographer photography skill better than a part time or hobbyist photographer. Professional full time give a meaning of hours of time spend in photography activities by the photographer. Professional full time charges more than the part time. Full time spent more time on the photography activities and their skills and experience supposed to be better than the part time by rights. Professional full time photographer charges can be expensive depend to the photography they do. Most can easily reach above 10 thousand and exceed to 100 thousand in commercial photography.

The equipments that used by the professional full time was mostly high end professional gear. The high demand in quality and skills and the high expectation from the client make the full time photographer to invest more on the reliability and the high end result and effect that most of the conventional mid range photography gear cannot give. Photographer in this category can spend around 100 thousand to 1 million ringgit of equipment depend to his income and investment capability.

This range of equipments can be compared to small and medium business standard where the passion is not merely to earn money but to create a masterpiece that well worth up to the competition that give a high quality result in a high expectation demand in a real competitive market. Some still choose to the old technique equipments that still cost a fortune to buy but a little bit adaptation to the new digital post processing to get the better result to compensate the limitation only electronic can do at the moment.

The different that make among the professional full time photographer is the experience and the photography art work they produce. Professional full timer photographer challenge is to make sure their art work stand out among all many photo exhibited in specific genre and field such as commercial, art and journalism. Photographer that has a very detail insight and observation on finding details that stand out among many photos will excel to success and recognition that will earn him/her as a Master in Photography.

The government, the petrol and the people went berserk

I remembered the time when my sister and cousin called telling me to fill up the car with petrol because the petrol price going to hike the day after. I confidently believed that it will not happen as I the day before read on daily express that the hike will only happened on August as it quoted by some dude minister in a press conference. The public went berserk filling up their car and this caused massive traffic jam all around the nation. I witness the massive jam personally but believed that it would not happen as the hike going to trouble some other policies such as the subsidized fuel that went to the commercial business such as the small fisherman and the public buses transport.

When i reached home, PM announced and confirmed the price hike about 40 percent. It means we need to pay up to 2.70 for a litter from previous 1.98 previously. I listen in disbelieve thinking how the PM can do this to the people and let the people running like a headless chicken queuing to fill their car. Malaysian was used to being pampered by the previous PM that believes a price hike will only hurt more than save the nation economic. Indeed, it sound nice to the people but crap to the business people and whoever invest and has interest in the business. We dream to a free and liberal human rights but not ready for free and liberal economic structure. Ironically is true but painfully to believe.

Today, living turn to be more challenging compared ten years ago. The changes become more obvious and fast and we not getting used to the new change, and were introduced to a new policies. It is not a new thing for government to change its policies. I previously experience it with the national education policies. We still have problem to use Bahasa Malaysia or Melayu to our national language and cannot decide to use English as education language for Math and Science. The change on Education Minister Portfolio means that changes will be happened. I believe it so much that now I’m suffering from the uncertainty of this changing policies and make most my generation become uncompetitive in the real society.

Recently, there were some rumors spreading telling the petrol station will be close for few day as protest against the low profit margin over the fuel hike and the credit card charges. Again the people went berserk again and went to the filling station to fill up their car. I was again tempted to fill up my car because the fuel indication went so low. After looking at some ridiculous line in the filling station, i went back to home without getting my car filled. It was later found out the news was not true and just a rumors that spread around the Kota Kinabalu town and not the whole nation.

At first, I wondered what really the petrol station operator thinking when they want to stop selling petrol to the people. What really they think if the groceries shop or rice dealer stop selling the rice because the price not right. Will they think it is crazy too? Even the boycott by the petrol operator wasn’t true; I believe it was still an option to them to take it as a bargain chip with the government. Even it is not a fair action to the people; it has to be done because it is only the way to convince the government to act fair to the operators by making the people into an unconvinced situation. What if the electric power station operators decide to turn off the plug because the price is not right? Will the petrol operators understand the reason with a mutual understanding and not trying to ask for a compensation loss over the period that they not dealing the business.

Malaysia experiences a new and very difficult situation and political imbalance. People are no longer able to predict what step will be taken by the government next. Will the government choose to satisfy the well connected big corporation over the welfare of the people? The sources of these problems are certainly come from the uncertainty of the world political and economical uncertainty. Malaysia can choose to isolated from the changes by will or flow along with the changes and problem that will affecting the people generally.

Chin Peng: Communist state and an alternative twist of fate.

Disclaimer: This post was written purely my personal idea and thought. It doesn't reflected to any intention to do or to influence the readers to act any illegal activities that against the law or the current government.

Malaysian judge reject the appeal of his most significant piece of history Chin Peng. Chin Peng was a former Malaya Communist Party leader that lead a failed campaign to turn Malaya into a communist state. There are still communist phobia among to the western world and include the society in Malaysia even after the downfall of the Soviet Union. The last remaining communist state now is China and Cuba. China slowly turning away from its hard line communist and slowly accepts capitalism to boost his economic status and to get acceptance among the international community. Cuba never admit that they're are communist, they just a socialist country.

What is Communist? Click here to read more about it. The problem with communism ideological world was that it is so easy to be misunderstanding. So many sub ideological thought of this concept that was used as propaganda to obtaining power by manipulate the uneducated and desperate society to fight for some general benefits that ended up taking more away from them. Most of the communist campaigns turn out to be successful at the beginning and slowly become isolated away to the liberal thought that allowed individual and liberal thought. The power of the community voluntary given to specific person that supposed to be fair and just and history has proven that it not necessary to be like this.

I remembered during a class I attended during my university year. It was a class of introduction of political science. I was so amazed with this lecture explained the meaning of communist to the class. The lecture session was strong and inspired and my understanding about communist all along was wrong. Indeed that communism not supposed to be because the founder Karl Marx doesn't have any plan to lead it to the path. Karl Marx supposed to spread the ideology of Marxism and not Communism for what I personally believe.

Even thou, some believe Karl Marx ideology is the most democratic system among the most ideology even compared it Democracy, it was not mean to the nature state of the human mind. We're created to be individual and special. We have our own thinking and desire. At the same time, we need to be competitive along among all individual and selfish people. We just need one individual that has a strong desire believe for him, and he will find a way to climb to the top and convince others to go along with what he believes.

One just need a great numbers of desperate and uneducated in a community, make them believe that you will fight for them by reeducate them with Karl Marx ideology with a bit blend of own theories and cross your finger and hope no one will be out smart enough to see through your plan. If that happens, reeducate him back or just play it easy by accused him as a traitor of the society and get him executed as a warning not to outsmart you next time.

It is easy to for a communist state to turn to military regiment and then dictatorship by one particular individual or a group of people. Our state of mind created so different that we exist to be individual and has own self desire. No matter how much a person so in believe in the social and general benefits, one will naturally think about what he/she want for him/her self. Our own DNA character has proven any kind of socialist ideology without self imposed desire not going to work for long term. Slowly, our own individual and desire will guide us back to selfishness and general socialist benefits not really apply anymore. This is the reason why most communist state turn becomes a military regiment or dictatorship for a long time. I do see some democratic state become a military regiment and dictatorship but not before turning to communist or sort of self imposed socialist state.

Chin Peng really a true living piece of Malaysia's history. I read and learn all about it in our history book stated that he is the bad guy with a gun that wants to turn the state of Malaya into communist. Communist is not really getting any good publicity for so long because of the basic ideology that not natural to the human state of mind. Even that so, I don't think the Malaysia government should be afraid of Chin Peng after so long exile. If he still has the talent of changing a state, he will do so for Thailand. Thailand for now will ruled by the communist military or worst a dictator that got his power from his father the military leader from the past. Look at the North Korea state.

To another twist of fate, if Chin Peng successfully ran his communist campaign on Malaya, we will not see any formation of Malaysia Federation. Singapore easily will be in the communist state and be the capital of Malaya Communist State. Kuala Lumpur will still be a muddy place where people mine for lead and paddy field for rice. The three races Malay, Chinese and Indian will integrated as Malay's Socialist People and religion, culture and liberalization still banned for now until the death of Chin Peng. I can see Chin Peng still alive and maybe for another 10 years of so.

Sabah, Sarawak and Brunei will be uniting as Borneo Federal State. Kalimantan will join too if Indonesia turn out to be communist state. It is not likely that the island of Borneo turning to be a communist state because it so near to Philippine where the American stood their military base. Sultan Brunei will be a sole Parliamentary Monarchy same as the British Monarchy today. All the Malaya Sultan will cease to exist and force to live in exile most probably to Borneo Federation State. Islam will be the main religion to the Borneo State along with other religion such as the Christian and Buddhist and the Moro people will not rebel. The social development will be high and become one of the greatest economic power because of the western influences and military investment such as what been seen with Japan and South Korea.

I find it so interesting to write up this imaginary alternate time line one person such as Chin Peng could do. He is really a significant piece of Malaysia history that still standing and alive. What if in a twist of fate he is success in his struggle, what will happen to us today? What is the alternate time line that will happen today around the world? I remembered the domino effect of the cold war that was told by my lecture. South East Asia will be easily turned to be a communist state if the people do support the ideology of communism.

Luckily for the western world that the people on South East Asia strong in what they believe. Even when they are poor and hard, religion such as Islam, Christianity and Buddhist is a main thing in their life. This is not relevant even with Karl Marx himself. The successful of communist in Russia and China was caused by some group of individual selfish people. This state of mind by some minority has made the majority of uneducated to suffer and communist is the only way to get their life back to decent. At the same time, they have to pay the decent life with their individualist and selfishness being taken away.
